Welcome news: Derrinallum P-12 College students Audrey Ringe, Jacob Thurrowgood and Liam Harper are looking forward to maintenance works at the school being completed thanks to a funding announcement.

STUDENTS in Derrinallum will soon benefit from having maintenance works carried out at their school thanks to a funding boost.

Labor Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney announced Derrinallum P-12 College is among 78 schools to share in $5.94 million of Planned Maintenance Program (PMP) funding to help address their maintenance needs.

Derrinallum P-12 College will receive $55,000 for high priority maintenance works on the school’s Shelter in Place building.

Ms Tierney said these works will be delivered by the Victorian School Building Authority on behalf of the school.

She said the school will also receive $30,000 for high priority maintenance, including ceiling repairs, floor repairs, lighting repairs, painting, repairing soffits, ventilation fan repairs, window repairs and surface treatments.

Ms Tierney said the PMP provides funding for vital maintenance activities based on need

“Derrinallum P-12 College does everything possible to get the most out of their students, so it is wonderful news that they are among the schools set to share in this maintenance funding,” she said.

“The Andrews Labor Government continues to invest in the future of Derrinallum students, and I look forward to seeing these upgrades”.

School principal Caitlyn Fitzgerald welcomed the funding announcement.
