TOWNS across the Western District have topped $33,000 raised towards the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal last weekend.

The annual Garvoc community auction raised $14,270 through the town’s annual auction and further collections on Good Friday.

A number of community members packed out the Garvoc Hall last Wednesday to bid for more than 100 items.

The Terang community dug deep to raise $13,210 for the cause, with the Terang Urban Fire Brigade and the 1st Noorat Scout Group joining volunteers knocking doors throughout the town.

Terang Good Friday Appeal co-ordinator Mark Cole said a high result would not have been possible without the support of the volunteers and local businesses.

“Thanks to all the collectors on the day and the people of the district for their support of such an important cause,” he said.

The total included $1000 raised during a trivia night held earlier this month.

Volunteers from the Mortlake community helped raise $3901, while the Caramut community also raised $1630 towards the Good Friday Appeal.

The donations contributed to the $3,482,573 regional total, with the grand total for the appeal reaching a record $18,175,467.
