4BBB at Camperdown
CAMPERDOWN Golf Club held a successful tournament last weekend, with 28 teams contesting the men’s and women’s 4BBB pairs event on Saturday.
The men’s winners were the local combination of Jeremy Baker and Andrew Burrows with 46 points, closely followed by runners-up Murray Fry and Ash Couch with 45 points.
Marg White and Terri Sinnott won the women’s competition with 43 points and, after a three way count back, Leah Cheeseman and Gabby Gill emerged as runners-up with 41 points.
Matt Sinnott claimed the longest putt on the 18th green.
Nearest the pins: 2nd Jess Moulden and Dave Absolom, 9th Jess Moulden and Tom Moran, 15th Luke Clarke, 17th Donna Conheady and Ray Jackson.
Sunday’s event was a four person ambrose with 80 players in both men and mixed teams.
Winners, with the best nett score of 54 4/8ths, was a young team from Terang comprising Josh Brown, Max Kavanagh, Caleb Kavanagh and Riley Scanlan.
The winning mixed team from Camperdown were Dave Absolom, Kerri Absolom, Peter Hughes and Allan White who came very close to an outright win on the day with a nett score of 54 5/8ths.
The Terang team of Liam Venn, Nigel Bruckner, Phil Beasley and George Beasley had the best scratch score with 57 off the stick, or 15 under the card which was an outstanding effort.
The men’s runners-up was the Camperdown team of Stephen Clissold, Dale Evans, Fraser Lucas and Tim Fitzgerald with 55 5/8ths nett.
In the mixed the Terang team of Marion Venn, Fred Beasley, Nick Marshall and Colin Venn were runners up with 57 3/8ths nett.
Allan White claimed the longest putt on the 18th green and Richard Narik won the Golden Hole on the 2nd.
Nearest the pins: 9th Donna Conheady and Nigel Bruckner, 15th Marion Venn and Charlie Lucas, 17th Jenny O'Neil and Simon Trickey.
Last Wednesday’s competition was round four of the Noelene Sadler Summer stableford series.
Once again the lakeside course was closed while more trees were being removed.
Steve Douglas (10) won with 36 points following a countback with Dave Absolom +3 who was also winner of the nine-hole competition with 19 points on the first nine.
Nearest the pins: 2nd Steve Douglas, 9th Marg White.
Round two, second and ninth, went to Dave Absolom.
Balls down the line: Gabby Gill, Jake Bateman and Chris Farmer.
Next week is the fifth and final round of the Noelene Sadler stableford series.
