TERANG Rotary celebrated a milestone with the 60th annual Rotary Bowls Day Tournament successfully held last week.

The tournament represents a major fundraiser for the club, and brings bowlers from across the region to Terang.

Terang Rotary Club member Brendan Williams unveiled the winning and runner-up teams on the day, both of which were home sides.

“We went in to the final round with four teams undefeated and we finished with only two undefeated,” he said.

“Both are Terang sides, which is pleasing, so we’ve had our first Terang winner since 2018.

“Winner on count back points was Jack Fowler’s team of Jack Fowler, Trevor Rees, Peter Thompson and Craig Wynd.

“Our runners-up were Terry Heffernan, Peter Reilly, Ken Densley and Craig Skene.”

Skipper of the overall winning rink Jack Fowler thanked all involved for a great day.

“I’d just like to thank the Rotary Club for the day, and a special thanks to the ladies; the meal was absolutely magnificent,” he said.

“I want to thank my boys, they bowled well all day, and congratulations to the runners-up. Thank you to everyone.”

Terang Rotary Bowls Day Tournament co-organiser Geoff Elford said he was pleased with how the day unfolded.

“The day went really well,” he said.

“Everyone had a great day and was really happy with the bowls.

“We’ve had players from across the region, including some coming from as far as Colac and Port Fairy.

“We had a good amount of players, so we’re happy.”
