The Timboon presentation ball was organised by a committee of passionate parents who are working hard to keep the tradition alive.

A committee spokesperson, who asked not to be named, said it was the work of a small group which brought the event to life for another year.

“We had 38 students this year, that’s 19 couples, including five students from Cobden Technical School,” she said.

“We have a lovely partnership with Cobden Tech which offers all year 11 students the chance to participate.

“We started off at the golf club in the afternoon, taking photos out on the course with vintage cars.

“Our photographer went through and took all the family pictures and all the couple pictures and then we headed off to the Timboon Hall where all the students got presented.”

The spokesperson said this was the 72nd ball hosted by Timboon P-12 School, with students presented to a crowd of approximately 300 people before they stepped forward to complete the dances they had practised.

“There were some awesome dances by Nicki Kelly who is the dance trainer,” the spokesperson said.

“I think they learnt about five or six dances.

“They’ve been dance training since the start of February.

“They had 10 trainings prior to the ball.”

The spokesperson said both she and the rest of the committee were thrilled to see the tradition kept alive and see so much interest still shown in it from the students.

“It’s a very old tradition and we always have the lovely Thelma Hose and her husband, there who have been involved since the start,” she said.

“It’s awesome to keep this tradition going.

“It’s very heart-warming and to have so many kids, it just shows that it’s still one of those much-loved events that we still love.

“It was a beautiful afternoon.

“A lot of local businesses donated their time, services and goods to make our ball amazing.”
