A dry start to autumn

MARCH proved to be a drier than average month for Derrinallum and Lismore, with only enough rainfall to settle the dust in the region.

Derrinallum experienced 2.2mm of rainfall in March.

The figure is significantly lower than the long-term monthly average of 34.1mm and last year’s total of 32.6mm in March.

March 20 saw Derrinallum’s highest daily rainfall, with 1.6mm hitting the ground.

Currently, Derrinallum’s rainfall total for 2024 sits at 50.6mm.

Lismore also recorded a lower-than-average March rainfall of 1.8mm.

The figure is significantly below last year’s total of 45.2mm and is lower than the long-term monthly average of 34.9mm.

Lismore saw its highest daily rainfall on March 20, where 1.4mm was recorded.

The 2024 rainfall total for Lismore currently sits at 34.8mm.

Camperdown’s rainfall figures were unavailable at the time of publication.
