A festive song and dance
CHILDREN at Baranbali kindergarten saw off the year with music, song and dance at a special Christmas concert on Tuesday after a visit from Santa last Thursday.
The kindergarten saw a full house audience of families and special friends this week as children sang and danced to favourite songs from the year as well as some festive tunes.
The concert concluded with some Christmas rhymes and a grand finale dance number.
Parent Tarryn Delaney said it was a “great day” for attending families.
“All of the kids did a fantastic job,” she said.
“It was great to see their Christmas spirit and to see how much they’ve all grown over the year, and how much nurturing and guidance the teachers have given the kids.”
Following the performance, children who were finishing at the kindergarten this year were presented with a picture book as well as a memory book of photos and artworks from their time at the kindergarten.
Families and their children then shared an afternoon tea together.
The Christmas concert followed a special private concert for the man in red himself – Santa Claus – last week.
Santa visited the kindergarten last Thursday as part of its annual Christmas day, which sees children dressed up in festive outfits and accessories and enjoying a variety of festive activities.
Kindergarten director Bronwyn O’Keeffe said the day included the children writing letters to Santa before performing a concert for him.
“The children get to give him their letter and we also, earlier in the day, have a Christmas drama show where staff act out some of the Christmas stores such as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer for the children,” she said.
“They were looking forward to it – they were looking forward to the build-up and then they were all confident to give Santa their letters and talk to him.
“They were excited to sing for him and were happy when he joined in with their concert.
“It’s one of the highlights of the kindergarten year.”
The children raced to greet Santa with a hug before he joined in with some Christmas songs, dances and rhymes.
