Acciona opens small grants applications
COMMUNITY groups and organisations in the Mortlake region can now apply for grants of up to $10,000 from ACCIONA Energía’s Mortlake South Wind Farm Small Grants Program.

The annual grants program supports local not-for-profit organisations as part of ACCIONA Energía’s commitment to the long-term future of communities around its renewable energy projects.
The Mortlake South Wind Farm Small Grants and Scholarship Program has provided more than $300,000 in funding to support local initiatives since its inception eight years ago, reinforcing ACCIONA Energía’s long-standing commitment to regional development.
Last year, the program provided more than $55,000 to support students and community initiatives which included lighting upgrades for the Victoria State Emergency Service Mortlake Unit and Neil Porter Legacy’s trades expo.
Applications are now open for local not-for-profit groups to apply for up to $10,000 to help support impactful local community initiatives.
Students transitioning from secondary to tertiary education (university or TAFE) are also invited to apply for $5000 scholarships as part of the annual Mortlake South Scholarship Program.
ACCIONA Energía community benefits lead Erin Mulquiny encouraged community groups and organisations to apply for a grant before applications close on March 16.
“There are so many local groups working hard to support communities around the Mortlake region and ACCIONA Energía looks forward to lending our support through our small grants program,’’ she said.
“Every year we witness firsthand how these grants can support local organisations and individuals to make a real difference in the community.
“We are proud to be helping these local groups to foster strong connections and ensure that our community continues to thrive.
“If your community group has a significant local project or a special event you’re planning, we encourage you to put in an application before March 16.”
Not-for-profit organisations interested in applying for the program must align with the ACCIONA Social Action Plan and meet one or more of the criteria which includes enhancing education, healthcare or cultural development, promoting sustainability, the environment and conservation, promoting, providing or supporting the provision of basic energy and water services or actively contributing to driving and improving the socio-economic system of the communities where ACCIONA Energía operates.
The Mortlake South Scholarship Program is open to students who have completed their secondary education in the Local Government area of Moyne Shire or Corangamite Shire (VIC).
Preference will be given to those planning to study STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Maths) or agricultural courses, or those aiming to work in the renewable energy industry.
Application forms as well as terms and conditions are available online for small grants at https://community.acciona.com.au/mortlake/small-grants and for scholarships at https://community.acciona.com.au/mortlake/scholarship.
Successful applicants will be notified in April.
