Action heats up in pool
PERFECT weather, enthusiastic supporters and eager swimmers made for ideal conditions for Camperdown College’s senior swim carnival last month.
Students and staff enjoyed a successful day at the pool, where both swimmers and non-swimmers were all keen to jump in and have a go.
There was some outstanding individual performances recorded while the novelty events were a popular choice, allowing houses to gain valuable points.
As always, the crowd was kept entertained by Ms Crowle on the microphone, singing, encouraging and keeping spirits high.
“We were very grateful to the Parents and Friends Association for supplying the barbecue and to the teachers for organising the day,” sports captain Ruby Kempton said.
“A special congratulations to Leura House for taking home the win and well done to everyone who participated.”
In recent weeks students from prep to year six have been involved in swimming lessons at the Camperdown pool, guided by teachers from Jason Lamb’s Splash Factory.
“It was amazing to see the progression that students made during those six weeks and the smiles on their faces as they walked to and from the pool,” Prep-Year 6 sport coordinator Matt Harkin said.
The lessons culminated with the running of a House Swimming Carnival.
Many students dressed in their house colours and were well supported by parents and friends poolside.
Several strong performances were seen in the pool.
Reagan Webb won the year six championship race in a time of 1:16 while the year six students vs staff/parents relay race was a highlight of the day.
Overall results from the day: 1st Leura 417, 2nd Manifold 413, 3rd Bullen Merri 393.
“Many thanks to all staff for their efforts in the lead up to the day and at the carnival,” Mr Harkin said.
