Agriculture graduate puts values into action
JANCOURT East student Jacquelien Pol has been recognised among the best of the best Rural Industries Skill Training (RIST) graduates.
More than 100 students, joined by family and staff, came together to celebrate their RIST Graduation on last week.
Jacquelien, who completed her Certificate IV in Agriculture, was recognised with a Values in Action Award.
The award recognises those who consistently demonstrate integrity, accountability and make a positive contribution throughout their studies.
RIST chief executive officer Bill Hamill reflected on being part of graduates’ learning journey and supporting their growth as they progressed through their course.
“Your accomplishment reflects the dedicated focus you have given to making the most of this opportunity of learning from industry-leading agricultural trainers, using the latest technologies and taking classroom theory into practical on-farm, skill-based learning in real-world situations,” he said.
“You represent the future of our industry and are now the critical thinkers with a skillset highly sought after by employers.”

The celebration recognised the achievements of graduates of the Certificate in Agriculture, Certificate II in Shearing, Certificate III in Agriculture, Certificate IV in Agriculture, Certificate IV in Wool Classing and Diploma in Agriculture.
RIST head of student experience Helen Read said the event was an opportunity to recognise the qualities RIST aims to instil in all its graduates.
“We have also awarded a graduate in each course who exemplifies the values every RIST graduate takes into the agricultural sector,” she said.
“Their curiosity, problem-solving and commitment to continuous improvement through responsible practice, respect for others and commitment to sustainable agriculture.
“Through consistent performance, attention to detail and professional application of agricultural knowledge, they have demonstrated excellence in practice.”
