Congratulations: Alf Frith has volunteered at Timboon parkrun more than 100 times.

Recently he notched up a special milestone with parkrun, and has officially volunteered more than 100 times at the weekly free event.

Mr Frith said the milestone was “fantastic” and he enjoyed making the trip to the Timboon parkrun most Saturday mornings with his wife, Denise.

“Denise does the walk; I can’t walk very far with my heels, and they were looking for a photographer and I put my hand up,” he said.

“I’m really enjoying it.

“I’m rapt to do it each week.”

Mr Frith said he enjoyed being involved in the Timboon parkrun event.

“It’s the camaraderie after the event, people enjoy a coffee and chat after,” he said.

“People stay around after for a chat and it’s so inviting.”

Mr Frith has had a keen interest in photography in recent years and was enjoying progressing his skills.

“I’m learning as I go,” he said.

“The greatest thing to see is the complements from the participants on how good the photos are.”

Mr Frith encouraged community members to consider getting involved with Timboon parkrun, as well as volunteering their time in the community.

“There’s no greater feeling than volunteering your time or your energy,” he said.

“Volunteering has been part of my life.

“I’d encourage anyone to volunteer.”

Timboon parkrun director Kate Makin encouraged community members to consider volunteering with parkrun.

She said volunteering at parkrun was a rewarding experience, fostering a sense of community and shared enthusiasm for fitness.

“The diverse roles available make parkrun volunteering accessible for everyone, whether you enjoy marshaling or scanning barcodes,” Mrs Makin said.

“Being part of the parkrun volunteer team creates a positive atmosphere where everyone contributes to the success of the event.

“It's a fantastic way to give back to your local community while enjoying the outdoors and supporting a healthy lifestyle.

“Volunteering at parkrun not only helps the event run smoothly but also allows you to connect with like-minded individuals passionate about promoting wellness.”

Timboon parkrun is a free weekly event which takes place each Saturday morning at 8am on the Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail and leaves from near the Timboon playground.

parkrun, which is volunteer based, is an inclusive environment with runners, walkers and joggers all welcome.
