Angling club re-election
THE members of the Cobden Amateur Angling Club re-elected president Bryan Poole at their annual general meeting for another consecutive year.

The meeting, held on Tuesday, July 22, began with formalities, such as the reading of the previous meeting’s minutes and the vacating of the president’s chair in order to hold an election.
Mr Poole thanked all members for their contributions to club events, such as the kids’ day organised by the shire, Bunnings barbeques, Father’s Day activities, working bees, family fishing days and support of club competitions.
“It makes my job so much easier when we all pitch in and help each other,” he said.
Mr Poole also praised the work of secretary Les Blake and treasurer Russell Smith.
“The work they do is incredible,” he said.
“They keep members informed regarding angling information and manage accurate financial records.”
“I’m also amazed at the work David Staggard and Neville Robertson do with their mowing and maintenance activities.”
Mr Blake congratulated Mr Poole on his leadership and said he hoped the club would continue on its successful path next year.
Life member John Wines took the chair for the election of office bearers.
“Bryan has done a top job and he gets strong member’s support,” he said.
“You get out of the club what you put into it.
“Our club is in a strong position with membership and attendance at meetings.”
When Mr Wines called for nomination of president, there was overwhelming support for Mr Poole who was re-elected unopposed.
Mr Blake and Mr Smith were also re-elected as secretary and treasurer respectively.
“There was obviously a feeling of enthusiasm following the election,” Mr Wines said.
“Congratulations to the committee on their re-election.”
Before the meeting drew to a close, members were reminded about the upcoming trophy presentation night, which will be held on Friday, August 1.
The presentation night will be held at the Cobden Golf Club entertainment room with meals available from 6pm.
All members, their families and friends are welcome to attend.
