Annual works completed
CORANGAMITE Shire Council is marking 100 per cent completion of road rehabilitation and footpath construction projects which were outlined in its 2025-2026 Capital Works Program.
Director works and services Shaun Broadbent said 15 projects were completed, including nine road rehabilitations, four new footpaths and two replacement footpaths.
“These projects have been completed before Easter which is well before the anticipated completion date of end of April and prior to the upcoming winter rains,” he said.
“Of nine road projects totalling 7.7 kilometres, three were strategic road widenings with major upgrades and three were in-town projects that required working around existing infrastructure such as kerb and channel and underground services.
“Council works crews and the team went above and beyond to overcome every challenge required to achieve this great milestone prior to their delivery timeframes.
“This display of productivity enabled council to minimise the impact of recent cost escalations of oil-based products to its roads and footpaths project budgets.”
Roads rehabilitated included one kilometre of Linton Road south of Grists Road, Bradvale, 800 metres of Koallah Road, Koallah and 610 metres of Gnarpurt Road south of Lower Darlington Road in Leslie Manor.
Council also delivered 750 metres of footpaths and multiple accessible crossing and parking improvements across the shire.
This included the installation of a new 125 metres footpath on the southern side of Jones Street from Church Street to Cole Street and the replacement of 74 metres of the Queens Park footpath in Camperdown.
