ANGLERS were given a boost to their fishing options at Lake Purrumbete last week.

Fisheries delivered a top-up of 10,000 brown trout last Thursday to thepopular lake.

The latest addition comes after a recent stocking of 4000 rainbow trout and 375 tiger trout.

Lake Purrumbete Angling Club president Stephen Hill was pleased with the stocking.

He said fishing was “good” at the moment for anglers braving the weather.

“Lots of brown and tiger trout up to 1kg being caught,” Mr Hill said.

“We’ve also had some Chinook salmon up to 3kg and good bags of redfin.

“The weather has been keeping a few people away.”

Members of the angling club were on hand to help release the fish intothe water.

Mr Hill said works were progressing on the installation of the new floating jetties.

“They’re expected to be completed by the end of the month,” he said.
