Appeal success sees work commence
SUNNYSIDE House has extended its gratitude to the community as works commence on the refurbishment of the lounge area.

The refurbishment was funded through the fundraising efforts of the organisation, which sought to raise $125,000 through its winter appeal.
Community donations totalled $140,393, with works commencing on the refurbishment in recent days.
Significant progress has already been made, including newly plastered walls, the installation of modern cabinetry, a brand-new large-screen television and new flooring throughout the space.
Sunnyside House chief executive officer Jo Forrest said the response from the community had been both humbling and inspiring.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support afforded to us by our community,” she said.
“The generosity shown through this year’s Winter Appeal, and the ongoing commitment of our local Sunnyside Op Shop, demonstrates just how deeply our community values and cares for its older residents.
“For generations, our community has shown an unwavering commitment to supporting older people through Sunnyside House.
“That longstanding generosity and community spirit continues today, with the overwhelming support received during this year’s Winter Appeal.
“We would especially like to acknowledge the incredible contribution of our local Sunnyside Op Shop, whose ongoing generosity has played a significant role in helping bring this project to life.”
Sunnyside House board chair Tony Dupleix said the continued support reflects the strong connection the community has with Sunnyside House.
“For many years, Sunnyside House has had the privilege of caring for older members of our community, and it is incredibly heartening to see that same community continue to stand beside us,” he said.
“Every donation, every purchase at the Sunnyside Op Shop and every act of kindness has helped create a more welcoming, comfortable and homely environment for our residents.
“On behalf of the board and everyone at Sunnyside House, I extend our sincere thanks to our community for your ongoing generosity and support.
“Together, we are ensuring Sunnyside House remains a place where older people are cared for with dignity, respect and compassion.
“The continued support of our community reflects the deep connection people have with Sunnyside House and a shared commitment to ensuring older members of our community receive the care, comfort and dignity they deserve.”
Works are expected to be completed later this year.
