Applications to open under popular grants programs
APPLICATIONS are set to open under five separate funding streams designed to enhance Corangamite Shire.
The shire’s grant programs open from this Friday, March 27, through the separate programs offering financial or in-kind support for a wide range of initiatives.
These include events and festivals, recreation projects, equipment purchases, facility improvements, environmental programs and other community-focused projects.
Corangamite Shire Council mayor councillor Kate Makin encouraged anyone considering an application to contact council for guidance on choosing the most suitable grant program.
“The council team can help you identify the right option and offer tips to strengthen your application, giving you the best chance of success,” she said.
“Council is proud to deliver these programs each year as a practical way to support volunteers and community groups in turning their ideas into real outcomes.”
The Community Grants program offers up to $2000 to community groups operating in the Corangamite Shire for development of new community, leisure, cultural or recreational programs such as through community projects, activities, events, workshops, planning activities or the purchase of equipment.
The Facility Grants Program offers up to $2000 (on a dollar-for-dollar basis and in-kind) to committees of management, clubs or organisations which have a primary function in the shire to help with facility improvements or equipment.
The Environment Support Grants Program offers up to $3000 (on a dollar-for-dollar basis) for community groups, organisations and individuals to undertake environment and sustainability projects in the shire.
This could include projects related to climate change, sustainable agriculture, installation of energy and water-saving items at community facilities or waste reduction and education initiatives.
The Events and Festivals Grants Program (up to $7000 inclusive of grant and in-kind for signature events and up to $3000 inclusive of grant and in-kind for local events) support bigger events which increase visitation and stimulate economic activity in the shire.
The Enabling Grants Program offers up to $5000 to assist community groups to develop shovel-ready projects which are properly planned and costed, and for which project funding can then be sought.
These grants can pay for business case preparation, scoping, community consultation, plans and drawings, permits and approvals or engagement of professional grant-writing or other assistance to secure project funding.
All grant payments submitted by the Corangamite Shire will be GST exempt.
All guidelines and application materials will be available at corangamite.vic.gov.au/grants.
Printed copies can be requested or collected from the Civic Centre at 181 Manifold Street, Camperdown.
Applications close Monday, May 4.
