April launch for volleyball
AFTER taking out the A grade premiership in Corangamite Volleyball’s winter and spring seasons, Freeballers will again be the team to beat in the new 2026 season.

With the first 2026 season about to get underway this month, district volleyballers are no doubt plotting to bring down the Freeballer dynasty – and give other teams the chance to win a flag at the top level.
The veteran NOBTs team took out the first pennant in autumn last year when they managed to defeat Freeballers but, like all other line-ups, they found it hard to combat their natural development over the next two seasons.
In the spring semi-finals, Freeballers defeated Poachers comfortably and NOBTS upset the favoured Cooriemungle Bulls to earn the right to play off in the decider.
Long rallies in the first two sets saw close scores (11-9 and 12-10) but Freeballers made it a 3-nil result by winning the third and final set, 11-6.

NOBTS couldn’t contend with the extra agility and height of their younger opponents.
In B grade, Gorge Chocolates proved too strong for Champs and Ballbusters, defeating them decisively in an enjoyable round-robin.
Gorge’s skills were too consistent for the other two teams who often let themselves down with indiscriminate shot-making.
The 2026 program will kick off on Tuesday, April 21 in the Cobden Technical School gym from 7pm.
The first night will be a welcome warm-up and come and try session, with the proper season to start on Tuesday, April 28.
Former and new players and teams are welcome to attend on April 21.
