Arundell to return
TERANG Mortlake’s A grade side will be bolstered by the return of goaler Jacqui Arundell for their clash with Portland this weekend.

TERANG Mortlake’s A grade side will be bolstered by the return of goaler Jacqui Arundell for their clash with Portland this weekend.
Arundell, who has missed the past five matches due to injury, will add depth to the Bloods’ attack end on Sunday.
“It will be great to have Jacqui back in goals and I think that will really lift our side,” senior coach Sharon Kenna said.
Reflecting on last weekend’s clash against third-placed North Warrnambool, Kenna praised the efforts of her young squad, including Ava Grundy who, despite battling a cold, ran out the first half of the game in centre after playing a full game in the under 17s.
“Ava worked really hard in the centre and came off totally exhausted,” Kenna said.
“We had four players unavailable on the weekend so it was great that Ava was able to step up and perform like she did, along with some girls from our division one team who also did very well.”
Kenna also praised the efforts of Linda Clifford who played her first full game in A grade and performed “exceptionally well” at goal attack and Amy Arundell who was also strong.
Kenna said while the scoreboard may have shown a 16-goal loss, 42-58, it was not a true reflection of how hard her side worked.
“We may have lost the game but our girls really performed well against a strong opposition,” Kenna said.
“I’m really proud of their 100 per cent effort and the defensive pressure applied all over the court. North really had to work hard for the win and they had to change how they played because of the things we were doing.
“This was probably our best game of the season to date.”
Best on court for the Bloods last weekend were Eboni Knights, Aimee Moloney and Linda Clifford.
This weekend they will take on seventh-placed Portland in a match the Bloods are looking forward to.
“Last time we played them it was a bit of a weird game; we were up about seven at quarter-time and lost by about a dozen or so,” Kenna said.
“But this week we have both our goalies back which is great news; we’ll just play our best netball and see what happens.”
In other games for the Bloods last weekend, division one lost 21-34 with Sarah Davis, Claudia Lee and Jessica Baxter named best for the Bloods.
Division two was defeated 17-21. Best on court: April Harris, Zoe Ritchie and Stacey Boyd.
Amy Conheady was named best for the Bloods in division three’s 17-20 goal defeat.
In the junior matches, the Bloods took the four points in all three games played.
The 17 and under side won 28-25, the 15 and unders 27-19 and the 13 and under team won 17-14.
