MORE than 90 keen athletes took to the track for last Friday night’s final night of competition for the 2022-23 season of Camperdown little aths.

Perfect weather conditions saw a large group of athletes enjoy their last opportunity to gain personal best times and distances at the Camperdown College sports precinct.

Throughout this season there has been tremendous growth at the centre, with more than 131 trialling athletes attending.

Last Friday night again saw great camaraderie and friendship among participating athletes.

While the centre doesn’t offer a cross-country season, there is an opportunity for all current members to attend and compete at the Western Country Region cross-country carnival in June (dates and

venue to be confirmed).

Athletes and families are reminded to keep an eye on the centre’s socials throughout winter for more information.

Good luck to all athletes who will be competing at the state championships this weekend at Lakeside stadium.

Five athletes will represent the centre in various events and the centre is very proud of their efforts and looks forward to seeing and hearing about their results and experiences.

Raffle tickets are available for the centre’s Royal Children’s Hospital appeal, with tickets also available at various Camperdown businesses (or by contacting president Kristy Clarke or secretary Cindy McDougall).

Tickets will also be sold at the centre’s AGM and presentation night on March 24.

To see the great prizes on offer go to the centre’s Facebook social media page.

The club is always keen to see new faces and ideas on its committee so please consider putting your hand up for a role for the coming season.

Committee is an opportunity for new parents to learn more about the centre, help in its growth and give new ideas to make the centre even better.

If you have a child interested in joining or are a current returning parent and you have ever thought about coming on board, to along to the AGM and join up to have your say.

The AGM and presentation night will be held on March 24 at the track and a barbecue will be provided.

We will also be selling tickets prior to the AGM and drawing the raffle. Please bring your coins and think about helping us to support the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Planning is already underway for the 2023-2024 season which will get underway in October.

The centre looks forward to seeing everyone back at the track to make new friends, have fun, and to increase your fitness, all while spending time with family and friends.

Have a great break and thank you to everyone who attended this year; making the Camperdown centre and the season, the fantastic season that it was.
