FOUR local athletes have put in a strong performance at the recent state relay titles in Melbourne.
The Little Athletics Victoria Commonwealth Bank state relay titles, held at Lakeside Stadium, attracted some of the best young athletes from some of Melbourne’s largest little athletics centres.
Camperdown’s team of Athena, Aysha, Dane and Harry competed in the under 12 mixed-sex 4x100m relay.
The team qualified for the event at the regional competition held just prior to Christmas.
Since then the group completed a number of training sessions to practice their baton passing and their efforts were rewarded with a clean race with great passes.
The team ran in lane eight and despite being on the outside ran a great race, finishing a clear third in their heat.
They finished the day in a very creditable 17th place overall.
The Camperdown Little Athletics Club is extremely proud of their efforts.
This was a great opportunity for the group to run on one of the premium athletic tracks in the state.
The club is now looking forward to the upcoming regional track and field competition which will be held in Ballarat on February 18 and 19.
Twenty-five athletes from the club will compete over the weekend.
