A BEST-SELLING author, keynote speaker and international business consultant will visit the south west to help dairy farmers win the war for talent.

Mandy Johnson will be in Cobden to present the workshop with competition for quality employees across all industries as fierce as ever.

WestVic Dairy extension officer Matt Wood, who is co-organising the event, said the session aims to provide dairy farmers with practical tools and techniques to attract the best people, and build a high-performance workplace which retains skilled workers.

“While the return of backpackers is very welcome, the market for more skilled farm hands and managers is still very tight,” he said.

“There is no doubt that the shortage of skilled employees is a significant issue on many dairy farms.

“Mandy has presented in our region before and is warmly received due to her no nonsense, practical approach to building a skilled, productive farm team.

“She will discuss topics such as hidden motivators to attracting staff, screening out poor applicants to minimise staff turnover and how-to performance manage underperforming employees.

Mr Wood said the event was a must-see for employers during such a competitive period for employment opportunities.

“We are looking forward to Mandy’s visit and hearing her valuable insights and extensive experience in this important aspect of farm business management,” he said.

“I would like to thank the DemoDAIRY Foundation; its support has enabled us to run this event.”

The free workshop will take place at the Cobden Football Netball Club on Friday, June 16, 10am to 2pm.

Those wishing to attend or wanting to know more should contact WestVic Dairy on 5557 1000.
