Autumn ends on a wet note
THE region saw Autumn come to a wet end in May, with Lismore and Derrinallum both surpassing their long-term monthly averages.
Camperdown saw 63.3mm of rainfall for May, which makes it the only area to not surpass the long-term average of 73.5mm.
The figure, however, is an improvement on last year’s total for May at 23.5mm.
May 18 saw Camperdown’s highest daily rainfall, with 17.2mm falling in 24 hours.
To date, Camperdown has seen 188.2mm for 2026.
Meanwhile, Lismore saw 58mm of rainfall over the month.
The figure is an increase on the long-term May average of 54.2mm for the area.
In addition, the figure is significantly greater than the May 2025 total of 14.4mm.
Lismore saw its highest daily rainfall on May 17, with 19mm of rainfall hitting the ground.
The total rainfall for Lismore for 2026 currently sits at 185.4mm.
Derrinallum also saw higher-than-average rainfalls, with 60.6mm filling gauges.
The figure is up from the average of 59.1mm, as well as significantly more than the 17.2mm of rainfall recorded in May last year.
Derrinallum’s highest daily rainfall was 16mm, which was recorded on May 17.
The rainfall tally for Derrinallum for this year is currently 162.3mm.
