Bandanas on sale for Canteen

BRIGHT and colourful bandanas are on sale at Camperdown College’s senior campus, with the Student Representative Council (SRC) raising funds for a worthy cause.
The bandanas are sold as part of National Bandana Day, an initiative by the charity Canteen.
Canteen is a not-for-profit organisation which provides free and tailored support to young people between 12 and 25 who are impacted by cancer.
Every year, 23,000 young people are impacted by cancer in Australia.
This includes directly as a patient, or indirectly as a friend or relative of someone with cancer.
The bandana sale launched on Friday, October 27, with just over $250 made from the sale of bandanas and lolly bags.
Organiser Kayla Loving said she knew a lot of people who have had cancer and have passed away from the disease.
“It’s really important to me because no-one should have to go through cancer alone,” she said.
“I just said to the principal that a lot of people would know someone who has had cancer, and it’s a really important charity.
“I emailed my vice principal, and we got it organised like that.”
The bandanas will continue to be sold over the next two weeks through the senior campus office, with the SRC aiming to raise $600 for Canteen.
Kayla said helping those with cancer was important to her.
“If you ever know someone, maybe set up a fundraiser to help them, because it’s really important to help people with cancer,” she said.
“No-one should have to go through it alone.”
