Banding together: Camperdown’s Lakes and Craters Band will join with two other bands on Sunday for a special performance at the Theatre Royal.

A special ‘Sounds of Sunday’ performance will be held at 2pm on Sunday, October 26.

The Lakes and Craters Band publicity officer said the show was a joint idea from current band member Peter Heath and former conductor Wayne Bowden OAM.

“I know Wayne very well, and he used to conduct the band back when it was the Fire Brigade Band,” the publicity officer said.

“They were just looking for somewhere to come and perform a concert.

“Our playlist will be music from the movie Titanic, Stevie Wonder, Looking Through Your Eyes and the film My Neighbour Totoro.”

Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the door.

The publicity officer said they hoped residents came along and enjoyed music played by skilled locals and visitors.

“Music is very good for the soul,” they said.

“It’s also to entertain people and give them an opportunity to enjoy music.

“My niece is a nurse, and when she did her training she had to do some of her placement in a dementia ward.

“The entertainment didn’t turn up one day, and because she was in a small town everyone knew her and she organised the entertainment for the afternoon.

“After that, the patients remembered songs – it brought back memories for them.”
