Barely a drop of rain

MORTLAKE had one of its lowest rainfall tallies in years last month, while in Terang it just didn’t rain.

Mortlake experienced one of its driest months as only 1.6mm of rainfall was recorded through the month of February.

The figure fell well below the long-term monthly average of 31.1mm, with the highest daily rainfall of 0.6mm being recorded on February 16.

The result marks a sharp decline from February 2023 when 59.4mm of rain was recorded.

The result brings the annual rainfall to date over Mortlake to 58.8mm through the first two months of the year.

Meanwhile in Terang, a 0.0mm rainfall total was recorded throughout February.

The figure falls well below the long-term average of 37mm, and comes as a welcome change following a heavy 81.8mm record throughout the same month in 2023.

The figure saw Terang’s annual rainfall to date over the course of the first two months of the year remain at 78mm.
