Bateman secures second championship
DAVID Bateman has secured his second consecutive men’s singles championship win at Camperdown Golf Magpies Bowling Club.

Bateman took out his second title last Sunday afternoon, defeating five-time winner Craig Skene.
The semi-finals were played on Sunday morning, with David defeating last year’s winner John Molan, and Craig defeating up and coming bowler Greg Teal.
The final between David and Craig was a high-class affair, with David skipping out to a 11-nil lead after seven ends.
Craig eventually got on the score board and chipped away at David’s big lead with one and two shot winning ends.
Craig eventually cut David’s lead to only two shots and from there it was close until the final end.
Craig, on numerous ends, held three shots until David claimed the ends with precision draw bowling with his last bowl.
Even on the last end, Craig was holding two until David’s second last bowl moved the kitty and virtually made it impossible for Craig to draw the winning shot.
The final score saw David win the championship by three shots, 25- 22.
In pennant matches last Saturday the club had a day to forget with all three pennant teams going down.
The club will re-group over the Christmas and New Year break and come back with renewed confidence in the new year for the final four games of the season.
In mid-week pennant last Tuesday both division one and three travelled to Colac Central and both teams suffered losses.
The loss to division one saw them drop from third on the ladder to sixth but still only six points behind third place.
Division three managed to hold on to second place on the ladder, five points ahead of third placed City 3.
The men’s and ladies pairs championship entries close on Saturday, December 28.
Entry forms are on the noticeboard at the club house.
Don’t forget the trivia night at the club house on Friday, January 10.
