Bell and Kasapis finish top

THE 39th annual Terang and District Lions Fun Run and Walk hit the streets last week with a solid turnout of runners and walkers.

THE 39th annual Terang and District Lions Fun Run and Walk hit the streets last week with a solid turnout of runners and walkers.

Hundreds made the 5.92 kilometre trek from Noorat to Terang on the brisk Friday night with a strong field boosted by mild tailwinds.

Overall winner Jacob Bell notched a commanding win, crossing the line in a time of 18.21.

Sam Edeney crossed in second place with a time of 20.13 followed by Richard Wade at 20.30.

Women’s race winner Anna Kasapis left nothing to doubt with the world champion medium distance runner finishing in an impressive 21.58.

She was followed by Claudia Lee in a time of 26.32.

In the under 15s, Max Ibic came away with the win (22.03), followed by Ben Carlin (24.46) and Louis Beaton (25.56).

Under 13 winner Geordie Rollings got home first (22.40), with Micheal Loughred crossing second (25.05) and Callum Wade finishing third (26.07).

Lee Haberfield won the veterans’ 40-49 (23.43), and Rob Ibic crossed first in the 50+ category (22.43).

In the women’s under 18 Dayna Haberfield took the win (27.17) followed by Denva Martin (28.09) and Abbey Benson (29.07).

Taleah Murfett crossed first in the women’s under 15s (26.24), with Ebony Pearce running a close second (26.43).

Ava Conheady smashed out a time of 31.27 to win the women’s under 13, followed by Madelyn Clarke (31.34) in second place. Third couldn’t be separated, with Lucia Clarke and Nikaioh Murfett both finishing tied at 34.49.

Claire Hill won the women’s veteran 40-49 run with a time of 26.06.

Former local Anna Kasapis was the fastest woman on the night, finishing in a time of 21.58, more than five minutes ahead of second place.
