THE Magpies have enjoyed back-to-back victories with a 146-point win over Port Fairy last weekend.

Camperdown’s senior footballers put in a solid four quarter performance at Gardens Oval last Saturday, including a 13-goal haul from Sam Gordon.

Their efforts earnt the praise of senior coach Neville Swayn.

“It was pleasing to see a full four-quarter effort from the boys and they were rewarded for that,” Swayn said.

“It was good to be able to back it up (the win) from the previous week and I think Saturday’s performance has really given them all a greater sense of self-belief.”

After a tight first quarter, which saw the scores tied at 2.2, the Magpies took off in the second, piling on seven goals while restricting the Seagulls to just one behind.

“We really took off in the second, and played our style of footy, and that continued for the rest of the game,” Swayn said.

“We went into the main break with a 46-point lead and just kept extending that which was great to see.”

An eight-goal third term was matched with a nine-goal final quarter, giving the Magpies a well-earned win.

“The work the playing group did early in the year is really starting to pay off,” Swayn said.

“It’s good to see them up and about, believing in themselves. We’re playing some good footy and really looking forward to our run home which will be a great test to see just where we’re at.”

The Magpies will host Koroit this weekend, before heading to Reid Oval next week.

They will then face Hamilton in round 17 before finishing the home-and-away season against North Warrnambool at Leura Oval.

Best for the Magpies last weekend were Sam Gordon, Charlie Lucas, Zach Sinnott, Archie McBean, Ethan Coates and Joshua Place.

Goal kickers included Sam Gordon (13), Tim Fitzgerald (3), Zach Sinnott (3), Cameron Spence (2), Isaac Stephens (2), Angus Gordon, Joshua Place, Myles Sinnott and Thomas Baker.

Camperdown also took the four points in the reserves with an 11.14.80 to 1.0.6 victory.

Best for the Magpies were Andrew Anderson, Nick Jones, Eddie Lucas, Lachlan Swayn, Devon Coates and Jack Hughes.

Goals went to Lachlan Swayn (4), Devon Coates (2), Jonnie Hooper, Ned Payne, Nick Jones, Riley Kayler-Thomson and Isaac Fowler.
