Birds race from Mildura

CAMPERDOWN Pigeon Club raced 29 birds from Mildura last weekend.


The birds covered a distance of 500 kilometres.

Rex Perkins was able to get the best velocity to take first place and receive the John Ellis Memorial trophy.

Rex also gained ninth position in the Combine Open, comprising flyers from Colac, Camperdown, Warrnambool and Portland clubs.

Graeme McKenzie took out 10th position in the same competition.

Results from last Sunday were:

1st Rex Perkins, 8 hours, 54 minutes and 50 seconds (velocity 866.54 m/mins); 2nd G. and S. McKenzie (velocity 858.28 m/secs).

In a separate competition Graeme also came first in the Colac Breeders Plate race.

Graeme bred the winner, which was raced by Matt Warton from Colac.

Matt and Graeme shared the $1,300 prize money.
