Birnie wins stroke at Mortlake

GLEN Birnie won the stroke monthly medal event at Mortlake Golf Club last weekend.

Birnie had a strong round last weekend to finish on 12-77-65, with Craig Fowler the runner-up on 10-78-68.

Nearest the pins: 3/12 Richard van Diemen, 6/15 Glen Birnie and 9/18 Craig Fowler.

Balls down the line went to Hamish Weatherly and Peter Palmer while the winning visitor was Charles Kenny (Timboon).

Last Friday’s nine-hole twilight was won by Bruce Twaddle 16-45-29, with Eric Clarke the runner-up on 15-47-32 and Peter Palmer third on 4-39-35.

Nearest the pin on the 9th was Bruce Twaddle.

This week will be a three-person ambrose.
