Bittersweet farewell
THE iconic Timboon lolly shop, Little Bit of Sweet, has officially been put up for sale as the owner has decided it is time to hand over the reins to a worthy successor.

Situated on Timboon’s Main Street, the business receives plenty of traffic from both tourists and locals alike.
Owner Michele Fratantaro said she has been running the business in Timboon for almost seven years, which has become “busier than she ever imagined”.
“It’s been six months I’ve been trying to get everything sorted so I could get it out there that Little Bit of Sweet is for sale,” she said.
“This business got busier than I ever imagined.
“I was running the business in addition to catering and party set ups.
“It was taking a toll on my back and something had to give.
“It has been pretty hard to put it up for sale because it’s a baby that I built and it’s grown every year.”
Mrs Fratantaro said she never thought she would open a lolly shop until it happened.
“I’d had a business previously, then I was working up at Berry World and I pulled up down the front of the store one day and the building was for sale,” she said.
“I went, you know, maybe a lolly shop would work, and then that was it.
“It was just an idea – I never said, ‘Oh, I really want to have a lolly shop’.
“It was just something that came about.
“I was doing lolly buffets for weddings and birthdays so it allowed me to have a spot to do that from since it was taking over my house.”
Mrs Fratantaro said she wasn’t stepping away completely as she would be continuing catering and parties.
“I’ll continue the catering and party set ups – all the off-site stuff, because that’s all the fun stuff for me,” she said.
“That’s the stuff I can say yes or no to.
“I can say I need some time off because I’m buggered, or I can say yes, I can do that.”
Mrs Frantantaro said she was hopeful the right person would take over Little Bit of Sweet.
“It’s a good little business so hopefully the right person will come along and enjoy it as much as I do,” she said.
“This shop on a day-to-day thing by itself is quite easy, except for the school holidays – that can be challenging because it gets really busy.
“But people are generally happy to come to a lolly shop – it’s always a fun place to be.
“I love that kids walk in and they just go, ‘Wow, I haven’t seen that many lollies before’.”
Anyone interested in the business is welcome to contact Mrs Frantantaro on 0428 363 604.
