Bloods battle past Hamilton

The Bloods led at every change but were forced to earn their victory by the Kangaroos, with the home side pulling away in the second half to triumph 45-41.
The win lifted the Bloods back into fifth on the ladder after South Warrnambool’s draw with Cobden, with Terang Mortlake now only percentage clear of Camperdown.
The Bloods started the match strongly and opened up a three goal quarter time lead but the Kangaroos hit back in the second term to close their buffer to two at the main break.
The hosts were then able to extend their advantage in the third quarter after outscoring the Kangaroos 13-11 to take a four goal lead into the final term.
The two sides then played out an even last period, with the Bloods maintaining their four goal margin as they secured their seventh win of the year.
Jess Davis was named best on court at goal shooter after scoring 30 of the team’s 45 goals, while Aimee Moloney was impressive in the mid-court and Emma Lucas was solid on her return to the side.
Terang Mortlake is now preparing for another tough contest against South Warrnambool this weekend, with fifth spot again on the line for the Bloods.
Meanwhile, it was a tough day on the court for the rest of Bloods’ netball sides, with only one team coming away with victory.
Division one missed an opportunity to remain in the finals hunt, surrendering a three quarter time lead in its 31-28 defeat.
A win would have kept the side three games outside the top five, but the loss all but ended their season.
Division two was no match for a stronger Kangaroos outfit in a 31-17 defeat, while division three was also outclassed by stronger opposition in their contest, with the top of the table Kangaroos easily winning 50-27.
And in the junior games, the 17 and under side lost 70-19, the 15 and under team went down 47-46 and the 13 and under outfit won 30-17.
