Bloods dominate at home
TERANG Mortlake scored its eighth senior football win of the season with a 28-point win over Camperdown in the round 10 Hampden League match on Saturday.
The Bloods led at every change to record a 13.9.87 to 8.11.59 win at the Terang Recreation Reserve.
“We knew going off the results, especially last year, that we had to come ready to play and make sure we were really switched on,” Terang Mortlake coach Lewy Taylor said.
“Camperdown played some very good footy in patches, so it was good to get away with the win.”
Key forwards Jackson Paine and Will Kain played a major role in the win combining for eight goals, both kicking four each.
“Jacko and the ‘Kain Train’ were really good, they’re working extremely well together, it makes a difference having two big boys down there.
“You have confidence getting the ball in there with that pair, and after the bye we’ll have Lachie Wareham back which will be another big forward to add into the mix.”
Sam Kenna continued his strong season, named as the Bloods best.
“Sammy was very good, competed hard all day in the ruck, got his hands on the footy and was back to his absolute best.
“He’s been really good the whole year, I can’t really fault him, he’s been unreal since he got to the footy club.”
Apart from Kenna and the key forwards, consistent Bloods players Ryley Hutchins, Alex Moloney and Tyler Vickers were also in the best.
Joe Arundell led the possession getters with 26, as well as taking 13 marks.
Taylor amassed 24 disposals, with Vickers getting 23 and Hutchins 21.
This week the third-placed Bloods will head to Hanlon Park to take on fourth-placed Portland.
“Portland are playing some good footy now, it’s going to be a tough game, so we’re looking forward to it.
“They’re two games behind us now, so it’s a big game for us to maybe get a bit more of a gap, we’ll see how that pans out, but looking forward to getting down there.”
In the reserves, Camperdown got the points with an 8.8.56 to 7.7.49 win.
Best for the Bloods were Toby Roberts, Henry Carroll and Spencer Sagnol, with Carroll and Jehrin Bateman kicking two goals each.
The under 18 football saw Terang Mortlake dominant, scoring a 15.11.101 to 2.4.16 win.
Hamish Molan, Caleb Bamford, Cooper Wilson, Mason Barr and Jack Farrell were best for Terang Mortlake, with Barr kicking four goals, Bamford and Farrell three and Ollie Guthrie two.
Camperdown scored a 18.15.123 to 4.0.24 win in the under 16 game.
Arlo Herry, Hugh Kenna and Paddy Meade were best for the Bloods in the loss, with Herry kicking two goals.
In the under 14s, Terang Mortlake had a 7.3.45 to 6.6.42 win.
Zac Clarke, Nate Irving and Leo Slater were best for the Bloods, with Clarke and Irving kicking two goals each.
In the under 12 game at the Terang cricket ground, Camperdown recorded a 6.7.43 to 2.2.14 win.
Archie Philp, Lewi Baker and Max Moore were best for the junior Bloods, with Morgan Primmer and Connor Jewell kicking a goal each.
Terang Mortlake’s women’s football team had the bye.
In the under 18 girls football, Terang Mortlake had a 110 point loss to Warrnambool on Sunday at the DC Farran Oval, 14.26.110 to 0.0.0.
Chloe Gaut, Kara Bell, Nikaiah Murfett, India Edwards, Annieversary Naceva and Amelia Dowie were best in the loss.
In the Open netball, Camperdown recorded a 74-60 win.
Jacqui Arundell, Lyla Grundy and Aimee Moloney were best for the Bloods, with Grundy shooting a match high 43 goals and Jacqui Arundell 17.
The division one game saw Terang Mortlake get over the line with a 41-38 win.
Best for the Bloods were Holly Fowler, Claudia Lee and Maddison Chesshire, with Fowler shooting 22 goals and Chesshire 19.
The division two game ended with a 40-28 win to Terang Mortlake.
Ava Nolan, Caitlin Overweter and Molly Kavenagh were best for the Bloods, with Nolan scoring a match high 31 goals.
Camperdown took out the division three netball with a 43-36 win.
Best for the Bloods were Tess Harris, Sophie Conheady and Harriet Place, with Emma Keogh scoring 16 goals and Isla Primrose 15.
The 17 and under game saw Terang Mortlake score a strong 63-41 win.
Lila Bennett, Ava Conheady and Mckenzie Dillon were best for Terang Mortlake, with Lyla Grundy shooting 47 goals and Madelyn Clarke 16.
Terang Mortlake also got the points in the 17 and under reserves with a 37-24 win.
Mikala Madzarevic, Lily Guthrie and Tahnee Sachs were best for the Bloods, with Sachs shooting 27 goals and Madzarevic 10.
Camperdown was too strong in the 15 and under game, winning 50-18.
Best in the loss for Terang Mortlake were Sadie Baker, Parker McDougall and Tilly Harrison, with
Chloe Bouchier shooting nine goals and Baker seven.
The 15 and under reserves game saw Terang Mortlake win 32-22.
Isabella Robertson, Poppy Moloney and Beth Heffernan were best for the Bloods, with Moloney scoring 20 goals and Robertson 12.
The 13 and under game saw Camperdown register a narrow 26-25 win.
Annabelle Blackford, Matilda Conheady and Daisy Dillon were best for the Bloods, with Blackford shooting 15 goals and Imogen Barr 10.
The 13 and under reserves netball went the way of Terang Mortlake who scored a 34-7 win.
Charlotte Boshier, Layla Thornton and Daisy Sargeant were best for the junior Bloods, with Sargeant shooting 18 goals and Boshier 16.
