Bloods dominate Tigers
TERANG Mortlake’s senior footballers dominated at Hanlon Park last Saturday, defeating Portland by 107 points.
The Bloods, currently sitting fourth on the Hampden League ladder after three rounds, got off to a strong start in the opening quarter, kicking 8.5 to two goals, and then extended their lead to go into the main break up by 70 points.
Making full use of the ball in their forward 50, the Bloods dominated all over the ground, applying pressure and converting at every opportunity.
Final scores were Terang Mortlake 26.17.173 to Portland 10.6.66.
Samuel Crawley, Harvey Roberts, Kane Johnstone, Toby Harris, Xavier Vickers and Samual McLean were among the best for the Bloods.
Goals went to Kane Johnstone (4), Darcy Hobbs, Ryan Tanner and Xavier Vickers (three each), Toby Harris, Ryley Hutchins and Zeke Reeves (two each).
Also to hit the scoreboard with a goal each were Matty Arundell, Jack Fowler, Samual McLean, Jacob Moloney, Harvey Roberts, Ned Roberts and Tyler Vickers.
Earlier in the day, the Bloods’ reserves also enjoyed a well-earned win, 6.10.46 to 5.9.39.
Jordan Harris, Will Berryman, Brodie Odonohue, Declan O’Connor, Jake Lee and William Black were named among the best.
Jack Lehmann kicked three goals for the side, while Will Berryman, Josh Brown and Dom Kenna kicked one each.
Round three also proved a successful one for the Bloods netballers, with Open winning 50-48.
Best for the Bloods were Shakira Stuchbery, Remy Grant and Laura Kelly.
On what was a mixed day of results on the netball courts for the Bloods, results were as follows:
Division one – Portland defeated Terang Mortlake 42-37. Best for the Bloods: Maddison Chesshire, Claudia Lee and Charli Dillon.
Division two – Portland defeated Terang Mortlake 29-28. Best: Tori Kitschke, Sophie Conheady and Debbie Worland.
Division three – Terang Mortlake defeated Portland 39-26. Best: Tess McKenzie, Zoe Williams and Ava Nolan.
17 and under – Terang Mortlake defeated Portland 55-42.
15 and under – Terang Mortlake defeated Portland 28-28.
15 and under reserves – Terang Mortlake defeated Portland 26-16.
13 and under – Portland defeated Terang Mortlake 23-2.
Round four this weekend will see the Bloods travel to Bushfield to take on North Warrnambool.
