Bloods drop crucial game to Blues

The Bloods entered the contest four points clear of South Warrnambool, Camperdown and Port Fairy in fifth position, but surrendered its advantage at the hands of Warrnambool.
It was a disappointing result for the Bloods considering they led at stages during the first half, with the side overpowered by the Blues in the latter part of the 40-35 defeat.
Libby Moloney was named best on court in the loss, Aimee Moloney continued her consistent year with another solid performance and junior May Suhan also performed strongly.
The Bloods will now have a week’s rest to re-group ahead of its clash against North Warrnambool, who became the first side to beat the previously undefeated Cobden last weekend.
Terang Mortlake’s remaining games last Saturday fetched mixed results, recording three wins and three losses.
Division one remained in touch with the top five after it overcame a quarter time deficit to secure a 37-21 win.
The Bloods trailed by two goals at the first change but soared to the lead following a strong second quarter before running away with victory.
Samantha Couch was best on court alongside Linda Clifford (24 goals) and Kaitlyn Arnott.
Division two was unable to produce a four quarter effort in its 31-29 loss.
The side held the lead for the first three quarters but could not stop Warrnambool surging to victory in the last term.
Alice Tanner was the side’s best while Zoe Barker and Ashleigh Hunger also played well.
Division three fell just short of upsetting a more fancied Blues outfit, with the game ending in a draw.
The side trailed by four goals entering the last quarter but made a gallant comeback that to level the game.
Chelsea Carlin, Ruby Bradshaw and Zoe Bouchier were the Bloods’ standouts.
The 17 and under side was unable to stay with the Blues, eventually going down 33-24 after a close opening.
Matilda Hetherington, Chelsea Carlin and Sophie Lehmann were the side’s best players.
The 15 and under outfit outclassed the Blues in their clash, with a dominant second half setting up its 29-13 victory.
May Suhan was named best on court while Grace Wareham and Taliah Kelly also played well.
And the 13 and under girls continued their strong season defeating the Blues 33-17 to record its 10th win.
Anna Dickson, Ava Grundy and Leah Dickson were the side’s top performers.
