Bloods fall away to Blues
TERANG MORTLAKE lost its third consecutive game when it hosted Warrnambool last Saturday, going down 7.9 (51) to 21.14 (140).

TERANG MORTLAKE lost its third consecutive game when it hosted Warrnambool last Saturday, going down 7.9 (51) to 21.14 (140).
The Bloods were competitive through the first half of the match, just a goal down at quarter time and still within striking distance when they went into the half-time break 34-47.
A second half surge saw Warrnambool take control of the match, dominating through the midfield and getting repeated forward entries.
The Blues kicked seven goals to Terang Mortlake’s one in both the third and final periods of the match to complete their 89-point victory.
The loss leaves the Bloods in seventh spot on the ladder, only a game behind fourth-placed North Warrnambool but with a poor percentage of 55.38.
Young ruckman Darcy Hobbs was the Bloods’ stand-out performer, giving his side the edge from stoppages in the first half and taking marks around the ground.
Jack Lehmann was moved from the backline into a forward role, proving dangerous as he opened up play in the Bloods’ attacking 50 and kicking three goals along the way.
Bloods coach Ben Kenna said his side had performed well in patches, but hoped to bolster the team when games resume after the bye round.
“We haven’t been able to get our strongest side out there yet, so hopefully we’ll get a few back,” he said.
“It’s a bit hard to know with two weeks between games who’ll come in and who won’t but hopefully we can put a stronger side on the field and put our best foot forward against Hamilton.”
The Bloods hope to see the return of young gun Will Kain, who is yet to start this season, as well as midfielder Brohdi Carracher.
“Will’s a pretty key player for us, he was our leader goalkicker last year,” Kenna said.
“Brohdi’s another midfielder that hopefully might come back in two weeks, he only played round one and then got injured.”
