Bloods juniors in top five
TERANG Mortlake’s 17 and under and 15 and under netball sides are looking like finals contenders in the Hampden League.
Sitting fifth and fourth on their respective ladders with four rounds remaining, the young Bloods will be looking to string successive wins to ensure their places in the upcoming finals series.
Both teams enjoyed wins against Port Fairy last weekend and are well prepared to tackle the remaining home and away matches – against Hamilton, Koroit, Warrnambool and Cobden.

Open – Terang Mortlake defeated Port Fairy 42-39. Best players: Eboni Knights, Ava Grundy and Jacqui Arundell.
Division one – Port Fairy defeated Terang Mortlake 41-31. Best: Sarah Davis, Pippa Barr and Claudia Lee.
Division two – Port Fairy defeated Terang Mortlake 34-25. Best: Lizzie Justin, Caitlin Overweter and Ashleigh Hunger.
Division three – Port Fairy defeated Terang Mortlake 43-19. Best: Ava Nolan, Lydia Harris and Molly Kavenagh.
17 and under – Terang Mortlake defeated Port Fairy 38-27. Best: Millie Scanlon, Charli Dillon and Lara Clarke.
15 and under – Terang Mortlake defeated Port Fairy 42-8.
Best: Lyla Grundy, McKenzie Dillon and Madelyn Clarke.
15 and under reserves – Terang Mortlake defeated Port Fairy 24-2. Best: Emma Hill, Sadie Baker and Lily Guthrie.
13 and under – Terang Mortlake defeated Port Fairy 16-5.
13 and under reserves – Terang Mortlake defeated Port Fairy 16-9. Best: Tilly Harrison, Imogen Barr and Daisy Dillon.
Terang Mortlake’s senior footballers are sitting fourth on the ladder, percentage behind the third-placed Warrnambool Blues and a game clear of Koroit in fifth.
Round 14 saw the Bloods enjoy a 24-point win over Port Fairy at Gardens Oval, 16.10.106 to 12.10.82.
Will Kain continued his good form in front of goals, booting home six for the Bloods, while Lewis Taylor added four, Ryley Hutchins (3), Scott Carlin, Isaac Kenna and Jacob Moloney contributed one apiece.
Among the best were Ryley Hutchins, Will Kain, Harvey Roberts, Samuel Crawley, Scott Carlin and Gus Bourke.
The Bloods’ reserves are holding fifth spot on the ladder, four games clear of their nearest rivals Camperdown.
Last weekend saw them topple Port Fairy by 70 points, 12.13.85 to 2.3.15.
Ryan Tanner kicked four for the day, Todd Robertson was effective with three goals, Jack Lehmann kicked two and Tom Arundell and Hamish Hobbs added one each.
Best players were Will Berryman, Matthew Baxter, Tom Arundell, Tim Ackerley, Henry Roberts and Ryan Tanner.
The Bloods’ under 18s worked hard all day but went down by 10 points, 4.9.33 to 6.7.43.
Tyler Vickers was named best with two goals, while Damien Goddard and Winton Ochieng each kicked a goal.
Other best players were Ochieng, Josh Slater, Hamish Hobbs, Henry Carroll and Mitchell Hughes.
