Terang Mortlake managed only two goals in the loss to the Eagles on Saturday.

TERANG MORTLAKE conceded 51 scoring shots in a 149-loss against North Warrnambool on Saturday, kicking just one goal in each half.

The Eagles began strongly, kicking four goals to the Bloods’ one in the first quarter, and followed up with six more in the second period to go into half-time ahead 10.16 (76) to Terang Mortlake’s 1.3 (9).

The second half brought no relief to the Bloods, who managed their second goal in the third quarter but conceded another 8.2 to trail by 109 points at the last break.

North Warrnambool managed 15 more scoring shots in the last quarter but converted only five of them against a goalless Terang Mortlake, the Eagles winning 23.28 (166) to 2.5 (17).

Xavier Vickers was named best on ground for Terang Mortlake, kicking one of his side’s two goals, while Isaac Kenna, Gus Bourke, Ned Roberts, Joel Crawley and Dylan Jones also got nods from their coach Ben Kenna.

The Bloods have been suffering a serious slump in form after a reasonable start to the season, which saw them lose narrowly to Camperdown in round one and defeat Port Fairy by 10 goals in round two.

Since then they have lost big to Koroit and Warrnambool, although last week saw Terang Mortlake in control for much of the game against Hamilton before conceding the lead and the game in the last quarter.

This week sees the Bloods travel to Portland to face a side that is yet to lose a match this season, another stern challenge for a side low on confidence.

In other Hampden league games on the weekend, Warrnambool won away against Cobden, Koroit beat Camperdown by 129 points, Portland beat Port Fairy 153-30, and South Warrnambool won at home against Hamilton.
