The junior and senior campuses hosted a Blue Day for students, which saw many blue outfits worn for a gold coin donation.

The Blue Day raised funds for Fight MND, which raises awareness and funds to research Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Junior Student Council (JSC) coordinators Harriet Place and Grace Coker said all primary students enjoyed the day, managing to raise $941 for the cause.

“Junior campus students enjoyed a range of fun recess and lunchtime activities, including the popular Pin the Pom Pom on the Beanie game,” the coordinators said.

“A highlight of the day was watching our brave teachers take their turn to be splashed with ice and cold water.

“A special thank you goes to our JSC students and Mrs Jacinta Tolland for their hard work creating the adorable beanie badges that were sold to support the fundraiser.

“We would also like to thank Camperdown Bakery for providing the delicious blue donuts that were enjoyed by many throughout the day.”

Student Representative Council (SRC) coordinator Theresa Parry said the senior campus students also got behind the cause, raising over $1000 for FightMND.

“In the lead up to Blue Day, senior campus students voted for staff to take part in the DIY Big Freeze Ice Bucket Challenge with a 50-cent donation per vote,” she said.

“The competition was tight right up until the cut-off date and students loved getting involved and tracking which staff members were leading the vote.

“Staff members selected were Sondi Guthrie, Liam Geary and Tara Elliot.

“Students Lila Horspole, Zack Regan and Charlie Londregan also joined in and bravely on the icy water.

“Students could also enter a draw for the chance to dump ice water on one of the teachers, again with a 50 cent donation.”

Senior campus students took part in a trivia activity organised by the SRC, testing their knowledge of MND.

Ms Place, Ms Coker and Ms Parry extended their gratitude to everyone who supported the day.

“We’d like to thank Tracey Telford, who coordinates Big Freeze events across south west Victoria,” they said.

“From providing the ice, buckets, posters and merchandise, Tracey played a key role in making our events fun and memorable for both students and staff.

“Thank you also to our wonderful college community for helping turn our junior and senior campuses blue and supporting the fight against MND.”
