TERANG Mortlake’s winning streak was broken last weekend when they went down by three goals to the fourth-placed Warrnambool Blues.
Travelling to the Reid Oval on Saturday, the Bloods were hopeful of retaining top spot on the Hampden League ladder but a final quarter surge by the Blues put an end to their unbeaten run.
The loss saw the Bloods relegated to second spot, with South Warrnambool now top-of-the-table.
The visitors got their campaign off to a strong start on Saturday, taking a narrow four-point lead into the second quarter before extending that to 10 points by the half-time break.
The third quarter was a close tussle, with both side struggling to break free.
The last term saw the Blues capitalise on their opportunities in front of goal, adding seven majors for the term while restricting the Bloods to just two.
This saw the Blues take the points on the final siren, 11.13.79 to Terang Mortlake 8.13.61.
Best for the Bloods on Saturday were Gus Bourke, Ryley Hutchins, Isaac Kenna, Joe Arundell, Alexander Moloney and Rhys Buck.
Will Kain again led the goal kicking with three, while Matthew Baxter, Rhys Buck, Ryley Hutchins, Kenna and Harvey Roberts each kicked one.

The Bloods currently sit fourth on the ladder after seven rounds, just percentage above the fifth-placed Koroit.
