Bodies located on walking track

THE bodies of two people were located on a walking track near Wreck Beach last Friday.

“The deceased were a 78-year-old man and 74-year-old woman who were both from the Surf Coast Shire area,” a police media spokesperson said.

“The pair’s bodies were found by a passerby on a walking track near Wreck Beach in Gellibrand Lower about 10.45am on June 21.

“Police are not treating either death as suspicious and will prepare a report for the coroner.”

In other police news, a 74-year old man was airlifted to hospital following a single vehicle accident on Saturday.

The accident occurred at South Purrumbete at about 1.20pm.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said the 74 year-old man was travelling along Cobden-Stonyford Road when he crashed into a tree.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined and investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson said.

According to Ambulance Victoria, paramedics were called to the accident scene.

A male patient was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital with what is believed to be serious upper body injuries.
