THE sight of a 25 tonne excavator ‘bogged’ in Lake Bullen Merri caused some chatter among locals last week.

While undertaking under-water works as part of the ramp upgrades at the popular Camperdown lake last week, it appears the machine’s back track became bogged.

A 250 tonne crane was needed to pull it out of the water.

“One of the tracks on the excavator became bogged and some of its electrics got wet,” Sophie Lindner from Bridgewater Marine said.

“It was quite difficult to move but once on dry land the electrics were repaired and work continued.”

Bridgewater Marine has been contracted by Corangamite Shire Council to undertake the in-water works as part of the boat ramp upgrade.

It is anticipated this stage of the project should be complete by July.
