The Bombers now sit fifth, a game and a half clear of Camperdown but just half a game behind Terang Mortlake and Koroit.
A 90-point defeat at the hands of top side South Warrnambool last weekend will see the team regroup before taking on the eighth-placed Warrnambool Blues this Saturday.
Last weekend’s game at Friendlies became a one-sided affair, with the top side taking an early 40-point lead into the second term before extending that to 47 points by the main break.
The Roosters dominated the ground in the second half, piling on eight majors while containing the Bombers to just one goal four for the half.
Final scores were South Warrnambool 17.10.112 to Cobden 2.10.22.
Michael Koroneos and Paul Pekin kicked a goal each for the Bombers while Pekin was named in the best alongside team-mates Daniel Watson, Zac Green, Henry Robertson, Christian Koroneos and Brody Mahoney.
In a top two clash in the reserves, ladder leaders Roosters had to work hard for their 38-point win over the Bombers, 9.7.61 to 3.5.23.
Tom Mahony, Louis Cahill, Luke Pekin, Tully Darcy and Sam Darcy were named in the best while Martin Angus, Thomas Darcy and Joe Hutt each contributed a goal to the scoreboard.
Cobden’s open netballers put on a great display of team-work and skill to defeat top side South Warrnambool, 48-42.
Best for the Bombers were Emily Finch, Remeny McCann and Nadine McNamara.
Division one – Cobden defeated South Warrnambool 48-36. Best players: Isabelle Corneby, Rebecca Dendle and Lara Taylor.
Division two – Cobden lost to South Warrnambool 29-38. Best: Amy Kavenagh.
Division three – Cobden lost to South Warrnambool 26-39.
17 and under – Cobden lost to South Warrnambool 29-37. Best: Matilda Darcy, Shelby Cameron and Jessica Walsh.
17 and under reserves – Cobden drew with South Warrnambool 34-all. Best: Shelby Cameron and Rebecca Foster.
15 and under – Cobden lost to South Warrnambool 11-34. Best: Lila Bennett and Georgie Oborne.
13 and under – Cobden lost to South Warrnambool 12-19.Best players: Daisy Bennett and Tyra Sambell.
In the final round of the Hampden league home and away season this Saturday, Cobden will host Warrnambool.
