The Bombers have welcomed Rebecca Dendle and Jess Wheadon into their line-up, with Dendle stepping up from division one while Wheadon has returned from pregnancy.
Their additions have been well received by their team-mates, with McCann praising the pair for their early performances.
“Bec Dendle has just stepped up in defence and she is playing a whole different level of netball for herself, she’s taken on that role and has just taken it and ran,” she said.
“Jess also coming back in and being quite the defender (has been good) but she’s been playing quite a bit of centre.
“She is just that level head out on the court coming back into the side, and she’s our vice captain and she’s a really good level-headed leader for our group.
“On the court they have (both) taken leaps and bounds.”
Dendle and Wheadon are not the only new faces at the Bombers, with coach Mel Starr making an immediate impact since taking over the role from Nadine McNamara.
Her appointment has been well received by McCann, describing her coach as “incredible” and “amazing”.
She said they had already formed a strong relationship, particularly due their travelling commitments with the pair venturing down from Hamilton each week.
“Mel has always said I’ve got really big shoes to fill but she has taken on the role and has given us opportunities that we will always be thankful for,” McCann said.
“She’s come in and is loving it and we’re loving having her around.”
Starr has already imparted plenty of wisdom on the 24 year-old, who admits her current form is “not too bad”.
“Mel has come in and taught me a lot of new things about defence and myself as a player and us as a team,” McCann said.
“We can always make improvements but I’m happy with how I’m going this season and I’m happy to make those adjustments and learn new things from Mel.
“I’m really enjoying netball this year, it’s great.”
Cobden returns to the court against Port Fairy this Saturday, with the Bombers to meet a slightly different Seagulls outfit.
“They obviously had some big changes in their team and they’re not struggling but they’ve lost some of their goalies,” McCann said.
“They’ve got Carly Watson playing down in goals... and they’ve also got Sarah (Moroney) back in defence which will be a really good thing for them and she’ll be hard to beat in goals.
“But they as a side, the have made some changes but I have no doubt they’ll adapt to that and play good (netball).”
McCann is tipping a close encounter, but thinks her side’s “culture” and “vibe” will give it the edge it needs to extend their winning streak to three successive games.
“Our culture and our vibe on the court just as a team (is great) and even off the court we’re a tight-knit group of girls and I think that really shows out on the court for us as a team,” she said.
“I think every game and every week we go out its always going to be a challenge but I think at the moment with our vibe and team structure that we’ll come out on top.”
