Bombers run ends

ROUND four proved a costly one for the Cobden Bombers, going down to Port Fairy by 22-points for their first loss of the 2024 season.

By wd-news

Up until last weekend, Cobden’s seasoned footballers had enjoyed a perfect start to the season with three wins from three rounds, however, the Seagulls put an end to that, leading on the scoreboard from the opening quarter.

By half time the Seagulls held a 13-point lead, which the Bombers were able to bring back to just three points by three-quarter time, however a three goal final term (while containing the Bombers to one behind) saw the home side run out victors.

Final scores Cobden 4.8.32 to Port Fairy 7.12.54.

Best for the Bombers were Sam Thow, Patrick Smith, Tim Auckland, Sam Lucas, Benjamin McGlade and Luke Smith.

Goals went to Michael Koroneos (2), Jack Hutt and Sam Lucas.

Earlier in the day Cobden’s reserves enjoyed a well-earned 106-point win over the Seagulls, 17.14.116 to 1.4.10.
