Book captures ‘snapshots’ of local history
THE Derrinallum Lismore Community Association History Group have recently released a book showcasing some “snapshots” of Derrinallum and Lismore history.

The book “Snapshots: Memories Around the Mount and Across the Plains” was launched at the Derrinallum-based History Rooms last month, but has been in the pipeline for some time.
Derrinallum Lismore Community Association History Group member Avon Buchholz said the book featured 12 stories from residents about people and places from the history of the Derrinallum and Lismore communities.
“The Derrinallum Lismore Community Association History Group were successful in gaining funding through the Local History Grants Program to publish some of the recorded and collected local history from our archive that has been gathered over the past 20 years,” she said.
“We gratefully acknowledge the Local History Grants Program and the Public Record Office Victorian Government through the Community Support Fund.
“After many interruptions and extensions, but with persistence and commitment, we have managed to get it past the winning post.
“Our sincere thanks to our volunteers who have given their time so freely to conduct the interviews and to convert the oral history to the written word.”
While the first book has only recently come out, stories recorded during “Snapshots: Memories Around the Mount and Across the Plains” which didn’t make the first book are planned to feature in a possible second book.
The book is now available at the History Rooms, Derrinallum Supermarket, Wooltrack Store in Lismore, Camperdown Newsagent, and at the Camperdown and District Historical Society for $20.
