Bookaar outclassed
BOOKAAR had a 95 run loss to Stoneyford in the final round of the Colac-South West premier cricket competition last Saturday at Frederick St.

The visitors won the toss and batted and were all out in 44.3 overs for 334.
“They came out and smashed 51 off the first four overs,” Bookaar captain Lachie Green said.
“At one stage I thought we’d be chasing the 400-mark, but we pegged them back to 330 which we were pretty happy with.”
Louis Darcy took 3/66 from 8.3 overs, with Green rating Michael Winzar the best of the bowlers for his 1/43 from eight overs.
“It was just as clean an innings of hitting as you’ve ever seen.
“As frustrating as it was sitting beyond the stumps, it was actually really nice to watch some of their shots, with the fielding restrictions, whenever I’d bring a fielder up and put one back, they’d put it where I just brought one up, it was class batting.”
Bookaar fell short in reply, all out for 239 in 47.5 overs.
“We didn’t bat particularly well.
“Our top four didn’t bat well, the opening bowling partnership and our top four probably let us down a little bit, and that’s where we lost the game.”
Green took positives in bowling the Rattlesnakes out despite the onslaught of runs.
“I know they made a lot of runs, but to bowl them out in 44 overs is still a bit of a plus.
“There’s plenty to work on but we look forward to playing them on the turf rather than on a hard wicket.”
The two teams will meet again in a qualifying final at Cobden tomorrow after Stoneyford selected the Cobden Recreation Reserve for the match.
“We’re pretty happy to play them at Cobden to be honest, they’ve only played there once ever while we’ve been going there for years.
“If they can score like they did on Saturday against our bowlers on a turf wicket, kudos to them, but geez, they hit the ball clean.”
Bookaar’s innings was dominated by a century to Fraser Lucas.
“It’s probably his first hundred in a couple of years and when you got a batsman the calibre of Fraser that’s been batting number seven for us, I think that was his 10th first grade hundred or something along those lines, probably proves our depth more than anything.
“He came out and scored straight away with intent, which he’s probably struggled with throughout the year, and he’s admitted that.”
The all-rounder hit 111 from 120 balls including nine boundaries.
“Fraser didn’t give a chance, he batted beautifully.
“It’s just frustrating that one or two of us couldn’t go with him.”
Bookaar’s division two team had a bye in the final round and are set to play Cobden in tomorrow’s semi-final at Timboon.
Bookaar’s under 13s are through to the grand final after a 21 run win over Pomborneit in the semi-final on Monday night.
Batting first, Pomborneit was all out for 80, with Harrison Pyle taking four wickets.
Roy Molan top scored with 20 retired as Bookaar replied with 6/101.
In this Monday night’s grand final, Bookaar will play Camperdown.
