TERANG Mortlake half-back Gus Bourke celebrated his 100th game with the Bloods last weekend.

And there was double the reason for celebrations on Saturday night after the Bloods recorded their second consecutive victory with a win over Port Fairy.

“It was a great day all-round,” Bourke said.

“My 100th game was made even more memorable by the win. It’s a real honour to play 100 senior games for your local club and I couldn’t have been prouder.”

Bourke played all his junior footy with the Bloods, and some senior games as a 16-17 year-old before work took him to Geelong.

He continued playing footy with local side, Anglesea, but was drawn back to his hometown “about five years ago.”

“I had a great time with Anglesea but when circumstances changed and I came back to Terang I was keen to get back in a Bloods jumper once again,” Bourke said.

“Terang Mortlake is a great local club to be a part of and I was thrilled to be able to notch up my 100thwith them.

“Running through the banner on Saturday was amazing.”

Bourke’s father, William, also notched up 100 senior games in his footy playing career during his stint at Camperdown.

“I think it must have been back in the 80s or 90s when dad did that so it was great to be able to share the moment with him on Saturday.

“And to top it all off with a win was icing on the cake.”

With Saturday’s milestone now behind him, Bourke said he would enjoy this weekend’s bye round before preparing to tackle ladder leaders Koroit in what will no doubt be a tough match for the Bloods.
