Bowlers enjoy practice match
CAMPERDOWN Magpies Bowling Club kicked off last Sunday with a practice match against Port Fairy at home.
Fourteen teams graced the greens with 51 members in attendance.
Craig Skenes’ rink of Greg Teal, Jamie Norton and Len Searle were the big winners on the day with a 38 shot win over S. Culliwane’s rink 44-6.
Ian Henderson’s rink of Lud Gungl, Kerrie Henderson and Ray Bourke had a 15 shot win over P. Leddin’s rink, 22-7.
Paul Richard’s rink of David Bateman, Greg Molan and Jack Paasse had a draw with Damo Riches rink 13 shots apiece.
Luke Wright’s rink of Greg Edwards, Kiera Johnson and Chris Pearson went down to M. Arnold’s rink 11-20.
Overall it was a good effort from the newly formed club.
Last Saturday the clubs drawn fours was finalised, with the rink of Ron Cameron, Les Pearson, Gordon Weller and Greg Teal coming from behind on the last end to defeat the rink of Craig Skene, Brad Wilson, Norma Weller and Debbie Noonan.
This Sunday the club travels to Terang for another practice match before pennant starts.
Mid-week pennant will commence on October 14 with Camperdown 1 away to Central 1, Camperdown 2 at home to Lorne and Camperdown 3 away to Winchelsea 2.
Saturday pennant commences on October 18 with Camperdown 1 at home to Winchelsea 2, Camperdown 2 away to Cobden 1, Camperdown 3 away to Cressy 1, Camperdown 4 away to Colac 3 and Camperdown 5 away to Cobden 3.
