Bowls presentation this weekend

DESPITE the season being almost complete, there’s still plenty of action on the greens at Mortlake Bowls Club.

The mixed pairs championship has been run and won.

In the quarter finals, B. and K. Johnson lost to L. and A. Johnson; G. and B. Draffen def C. and T. Inverarity; C. and M. Goldsworthy def A. Wood and S. Richie; and S. Pierce and D. Robertson lost to P. Beardsley and G. Kenna.

In the semi-finals last Saturday morning, L. and A. Johnson def G. and B. Draffen, and C. and M. Goldsworthy lost to P. Beardsley and G. Kenna.

In the grand final that afternoon, Les and Ann Johnson defeated Peter Beardsley and Glenice Kenna.

Congratulations to all finals players.

The men’s pairs final between Nigel Boyden/Justin Rasmussen and Darren Grant/Colin Goldsworthy was played last night (Wednesday) – the results will feature in next week’s paper.

The autumn twilight bowls concluded its season, with the final between The Bowling Stones and top of the table, TGT87.

While other teams were playing for fun, the competition was heating up on the show rink.

Despite TGT87 fighting valiantly (and even had a cheer squad), The Bowling Stones were victorious in the end.

Congratulations to the 2026 autumn twilight bowls premiers – Ann Johnson, Alan Wood and Tamara Silk.

Well done to the runners-up, TGT87, Travis Greig, Tommy Dale and Grant Cameron.

The club fours championship will be played this Saturday, March 28 – 9.30am arrival for a 10am start (with a barbecue lunch in between).

After the final is played, the afternoon will include presentation day with a roundup of the 2025/26 season.

Members are asked to take a plate of afternoon tea and if you aren’t already playing, please speak with Colin Goldsworthy asap.

Nominations are open for the Merv Suhan Clubperson of the Year award.

If you wish to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond for the club, speak with a board member.
